We have several committees that support the board.  Please consider getting involved in one of them and for more information, email info@lakejohnassociation.com.

Clarity Reading

Measure the transparency of the water using a Secchi disk.  This is performed during the summer months.  Inlet testing is also done 4 times a year to test if any pollutants are coming in from the water inlet to the lake water.  This lake monitoring program is sponsored by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, which evaluates the data along with the EPA.  We also work closely with Wright County Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD).

Lake Vegetation Management Plan

(LVMP) A plan was developed in 2010 with the help of the DNR.  The main goal is to protect high quality communities of native emergent, floating-leaf and submerged aquatic plants, restore or enhance shoreline habitat and restore or enhance lake water quality.

Loon Committee

Working with the DNR, members keep track of how many loons are on the lake and if there were any chicks. Members also built 1 loon platform as a memorial for our past president.

Nominating Committee

The President will select a chairperson and two members in good standing of the association.  The officers and representatives will be elected at the annual meeting of the association.  President, Treasurer and Representatives of Section 2, 4 and 6 will be elected in even years.  Vice-President, Secretary and Representatives of Section 1, 3 and 5 will be elected in odd years. All are limited to a two (2) year term in office unless there are vacancies.

Auditing Committee

Books are audited each year in June.  The President of Lake John appoints 2 Board members to do the auditing.
