Lake John Northern Nursery loon chick is nearly full grown now but is still lacking distinct coloring of the adults. He/she is diving and feeding on his/her own and spending more time “alone”. I am waiting anxiously for first attempts at flying. Looks like a successful season to add another loon to our community.
Thank you to all the “users” of the Lake John surface. It is easy for me to preach about the value of our Loons and the need to be Loon Aware but it is also rewarding to see boaters slow down and avoid our Black and White Friends. Loon Lives Matter, too.
